What, Why & Where
In this period of rapid change, the call to individual and collective awakening is clear. It’s beyond coincidence that the use of visionary/healing/awakening plants such as ayahuasca, psilocybe mushrooms, iboga, peyote, cannabis, and others is spreading rapidly at this time. When encountered in the best of conditions, these plants may be the most effective teachers we have now—direct conduits to the deepest, most enlightening truths.
Our intention with this sixth Spirit Plant Medicine Conference is to offer accurate, respectful, and most of all beneficial information and inspiration on the use of and larger context around such plants. It’s an intention arising from a vision and a prayer carried in the hearts of many. To that end we have assembled an exceptional group of knowledgeable, engaging, and heartfelt speakers to share their wisdom. You’re warmly invited to join us for a remarkable weekend of insight, inspiration, compassion, and yes, humour.
The 2016 conference will take place in the Buchanan Building,
Room A101 at 1866 Main Mall, UBC, Vancouver

Lodging, Transportation, and Food (at UBC)
With the internet it’s very easy to track down lodging options these days. Here’s a little extra assistance.
There are several very inexpensive backpacker hostels in Vancouver:
- Samesun Backpacker Lodges (604-682-8226) is located downtown close to transit. Rooms range from $37 for dorm up to $138 for private room and bath
- American Backpackers Hostel (604-688-0112) is also downtown with both dorms and rooms. Dorms start at $10, a single room is $25 and a double is $18 per person.
The University of British Columbia (UBC) is at the farthest point west in the city. There are few if any hotels close to the campus.
Park Inn and Suites, (604-872-8661) is a good hotel on West Broadway Ave with special rates for people attending conferences at UBC. It’s an easy 20-25 minute bus ride to UBC. We’ve negotiated a discounted rate starting at $99 for two in one room. This special rate is only good until Oct 15th. Please mention the UBC Spirit Plant Medicine Conference to get this discount when you book by phone. Their regular rates start at $114.
Triumf House (604-222-7633) is a lovely guest house of 34 rooms located on the UBC campus quite close to the conference site and has rooms starting at $110.
From the airport: YVR is just south of the city. Taxis to downtown and to UBC are $35-40. The SkyTrain also runs from the airport to downtown for $9 and is very convenient to the airport.
Getting from most places in the city to UBC by bus is easy. Broadway Avenue runs east and west right across the city with express buses directly to UBC. The downtown core has buses and SkyTrain connecting to Broadway.
There are good bike routes from most parts of the city to UBC.
